I am the owner of a 2019 Mercedes A200 Sedan and have been a loyal Mercedes user for 10 years. My vehicle currently has 101,000 km on it. From the moment I purchased the car until it reached 30,000 km, I had all its services done at its service center. While driving on the highway during a busy hour on my way to work, a yellow "add water to the engine" warning light appeared on the dashboard. I immediately pulled over and called Mercedes roadside assistance. They advised me to add water to the engine, and if the light turned off, I could continue driving. I followed their instructions, and the light turned off. However, after driving another 5-10 km, the warning light reappeared, so I pulled over again. The yellow warning light turned red, and the car stopped on its own.
I called Mercedes roadside assistance again, and they towed my vehicle to the service center. The service center informed me that the issue had damaged the engine and that it would need to be replaced. Since my vehicle is still under warranty and all services were performed at its own service center, I was told that Mercedes would cover the repair under warranty. However, after 10-15 days of discussions with Mercedes, they stated that they would not cover the cost. They are now quoting around ₺500,000 for the engine replacement, which is not something I can afford.
Despite the fact that my warranty is still valid and I followed all recommended maintenance at authorized Mercedes service centers, Mercedes is leaving me in a difficult situation. I expect Mercedes to resolve this issue and cover the costs under warranty. It is disappointing to see that having all services done at Mercedes and having a valid warranty seems to be of no use.
