The strange smell coming from your MAC lipstick could be a problem with the batch (a strong preservative, some rust, or a difference in the formula), but it could also be a sign that the lipstick is fake.
Most MAC lipsticks have a neutral or light vanilla smell that isn't too chemical or sickly sweet.
Compare the finish, print quality, logo, and country of origin of the packaging with pictures from MAC's website to make sure. Also, check the shade name, batch code, and box type.
If the feel or smell is harsh or chemical-like, or if the seller seems sketchy or the price is very low, contact MAC support or ask for proof that it is real. Do not use if you think it is fake.
