Lunchbox Marmara Park Arbitrarily Refuses Table Service to Non-Alcohol Drinkers
On August 6, 2026, between 13:00 and 14:00, my companion and I visited the Lunchbox branch at Marmara Park Mall (Beylikdüzü, Istanbul) for breakfast, as we regularly do once or twice a week. Shortly after we sat down, a server approached and stated that table service would not be provided to us per the branch manager's explicit instructions. The rationale given was that because we consume non-alcoholic beverages (such as tea, water, and soft drinks), our presence at the tables made us "stick out" unfavorably.
When we questioned this decision, the staff responded aggressively, claiming we had no right to demand an explanation and telling us to "complain wherever we wanted." Refusing service to paying, repeat customers solely because their order does not include alcohol—and dismissing inquiry with hostility—is an unacceptable act of commercial discrimination and a direct violation of consumer rights regarding the refusal to provide service without legitimate cause (Law No. 6502, Article 6).
I demand that Lunchbox corporate management investigate the branch manager and staff on duty during this shift at the Marmara Park location. I expect a formal explanation, a written apology from management, and confirmation of internal administrative measures taken to stop arbitrary service refusals.
