Lunchbox Marmara Park Discriminated Against Us & Enforced Unfair Rules
On November 25, 2024, my two friends and I visited Lunchbox Marmara Park, a restaurant I have enjoyed for years. I’ve regularly gone there with my family, friends, and partner because I loved their breakfast. However, my experience this time was shockingly disappointing.
When my friend and I sat at a table, the waiter immediately questioned how many people we were. We said three, and he rudely asked, “Where is the third person?” as if we were lying. We explained she was in the restroom, but we were already made to feel uncomfortable.
Later, after ordering three Turkish coffees, a waiter interrupted us while we were drinking and stated that there was a restaurant policy requiring customers to place an order every 45 minutes. He then told us we had been sitting for 1.5 hours and needed to order again. We were shocked because this was never mentioned before. When we asked if this was a new rule, he simply said, “It’s the owner’s decision—complain wherever you want.”
I felt deeply disrespected, and I strongly believe we were treated this way because we were three women sitting alone. Had we been accompanied by a man, I doubt we would have been subjected to this unacceptable behavior. I have been to this restaurant many times, but this was the first time I experienced such discrimination.
I demand that Lunchbox Marmara Park be held accountable for its unprofessional and possibly sexist policies. This is not acceptable, and urgent action must be taken. Has anyone else experienced this treatment? I expect a formal response and immediate changes!
