IKEA Restaurant Hygiene Complaint: Insect in Drink Made My Son Sick with Worry


On October 13, 2025, while having lunch with my son at the IKEA restaurant in Forum Bornova, we discovered a black insect residue inside my son’s drink. This situation raised serious hygiene concerns for us. I immediately reported the issue to the staff, and although they offered to replace the drink, we declined since we no longer felt comfortable eating at that location.
Because my son had already consumed part of his meal, we became worried and took him to the doctor for a medical checkup. Fortunately, no immediate health issues were detected, but the incident left us deeply disturbed.
This is the first time we’ve experienced such a problem. We expect a formal apology from IKEA for this hygiene lapse, as well as compensation in the form of a gift voucher equal to the cost of the meal and the doctor’s visit. We also request that hygiene inspections be conducted more carefully to prevent similar incidents in the future.
