HSBC Advisor Misled Me About HMG Fund Returns, Causing Heavy Losses
For nearly a year, my personal banking advisor at HSBC’s Istanbul Ataşehir Branch has been recommending that I invest my maturing deposits in the HMG fund. I was informed that this fund would yield higher returns than a standard deposit account. However, after a full year, I realized that my earnings were almost half of what a regular deposit would have generated, resulting in a financial loss of around ₺50,000–₺100,000.
I contacted customer service to explain the situation. They told me that I was technically right, but since there was no voice recording proving that such a return was promised, there was nothing they could do—suggesting that I could pursue the matter through legal means. It seems to me that the bank is more concerned with protecting its staff and its own interests rather than the customer.
I request that my financial loss be compensated and that the bank’s staff receive proper training to ensure that customers are not misled or placed at risk through unrealistic investment promises.
