Hotels.com Refused to Cancel My Mistaken Hotel Booking Made Minutes Earlier
On June 8, 2026, I made a hotel reservation through Hotels.com for a total amount of €278. Immediately after completing the booking, I realized that I had accidentally selected the wrong hotel. As soon as I noticed the mistake, I submitted a cancellation request within just a few minutes of making the reservation.
When I contacted customer service, I was informed that the reservation was classified as non-refundable and that no assistance could be provided. However, I believe my situation deserves special consideration because I identified the error almost instantly and requested cancellation before any meaningful time had passed.
I did not attempt to cancel the reservation days later or after using any part of the service. The cancellation request was submitted immediately after booking, solely because I had selected the wrong property by mistake. Under these circumstances, refusing any flexibility whatsoever feels unreasonable and inconsistent with good customer service practices.
I respectfully request that Hotels.com review my case and consider the fact that the cancellation request was made within minutes of the reservation being created. Given the circumstances, I believe a customer-focused approach would be to allow the reservation to be canceled without penalty and issue a full refund of the €278 charged for the booking.
I hope Hotels.com will take into account the timing of my request and provide a fair resolution that reflects its commitment to customer satisfaction.
