Hotels.com Cancels Confirmed Reservation, No Response From Customer Service
I made a reservation through Hotels.com for 'Mardin Bungalow' in Mardin on August 22, 2023. My reservation with travel program number 7263810416**7 was confirmed. Exactly one week later, on August 29, 2023, at 01:48 in the night, I woke up to an SMS starting with 'Mardin Bungalow has canceled my reservation' and followed by three consecutive emails at 01:53, learning that the hotel had canceled my reservation. The SMS stated that my reservation from a week ago was canceled due to a system error, the agency processed the September prices without confirming their validity, and I would be contacted during the day for assistance. I wasn't called the next day, and two days passed. Still no response.
Firstly, regardless of the reason, sending a message to anyone through a personal number in the middle of the night, whether an individual or a legal entity, is unacceptable!
Secondly, if the date of my vacation plan is fixed, and I have benefited from early booking, it cannot be canceled arbitrarily.
Thirdly, with a reservation made in accordance with the legislation and confirmed, the business is obliged to fulfill the commitments in the contract. According to the legislation, there is already a 30-day adjustment period for the application of new prices. The adjustment of prices is a matter for the business and the agency to resolve among themselves, and there is no right to cancel reservations with confirmed prices (Regulation on the Relations of Tourism Establishments with the Ministry, Each Other, and Their Customers, Article 12, published in the Official Gazette). Therefore, there is no right to cancel the reservation on the grounds of updated prices.
I request the reprocessing of my canceled reservation at the initial price due to updated rates. Otherwise, I will seek my rights through other channels.
