H&M Refused to Accept Return for Defective Jeans

I bought a pair of blue jeans from H&M at Hilltown Mall, and they had a noticeable color defect. When I tried to return them, the store refused because I had cut the tag off, even though the jeans were not in sellable condition. They suggested I replicate the defect by using bleach on cotton, which I did because I loved the design, but now the jeans are completely ruined and unwearable.

I’m disappointed that H&M didn’t take responsibility for their mistake, and this experience has left me with a negative impression of the brand.
