Though I was booking a hotel using what I assumed to be the official website, it turns out Getaroom.com ran the payment page. Its motel logo was the same, hence initially I found nothing unusual. I hardly knew at all until they started billing me a €240 fee merely for the booking service. Apparently, their "service" consists in transferring just part of the money to the hotel via a virtual credit card, therefore preserving the remainder. The worst thing about it is Even though I didn't authorize the payment or provide any verification code, my account was debited the whole two night sum. It ran through without my permission. This whole arrangement seems deceptive and unjust.
