Google Family Link Causes Excessive Control and Restrictions

I would like to share an experience I have had with the Google Family Link app. I am a child whose activities are monitored by my family through Family Link. I understand that the app is designed to protect children, and I appreciate the importance of that purpose. However, in my situation, I feel that the app is being used more for excessive control and restriction than for safety.

Because of Family Link, I constantly feel as though I am being monitored in my daily life, and I feel that my freedom is being seriously restricted. I also believe that the level of control involved has negatively affected the sense of trust and communication between my family and me.

In particular, the restrictions placed on internet access, applications, screen time, and communication with the outside world feel extremely restrictive to me. At times, I feel that my ability to stay connected with my friends and the outside world is being limited far beyond what is reasonably necessary for my safety.

I also want to point out that this situation has negatively affected me emotionally and sometimes causes me to feel extremely distressed and under intense pressure. I understand and accept that children's safety needs to be protected, but I believe there should be a reasonable balance between ensuring safety and exercising excessive control.

I ask Google to take more comprehensive consideration of the impact Family Link can have on children's privacy, social lives, relationships with their parents, and emotional well-being. In particular, I request that Google provide more options and mechanisms for children who feel excessively restricted or controlled, allowing them to express their concerns and, where appropriate, request that certain restrictions be reconsidered or relaxed.

I want this feedback to be evaluated not simply as a technical complaint about an application, but as a real problem and experience reported by a child who uses Family Link. I hope Google will take this perspective seriously when considering how Family Link affects the children it is intended to protect.
