Misleading 2.79% Interest Rate Loan Advertisement

In Alternatif Bank’s digital advertisements and announcements, clear statements are made offering a “personal loan with a 2.79% interest rate,” particularly aimed at attracting new customers. Such statements constitute a definite and binding promise in the eyes of consumers. However, during the application process — despite my high Findeks credit score, regular income documentation, and positive credit profile — the 2.79% interest rate advertised by the bank was not applied, without any explanation, and instead a much higher interest rate was offered. This situation constitutes misleading advertising, damages consumer trust, and represents an unfair commercial practice under Law No. 6502 on Consumer Protection. Creating a perception of advantage with phrases like “Special for New Customers” while misleading consumers during the application and consultation process and causing loss of time is inconsistent with both advertising ethics and the principles of commercial integrity. Therefore, I request: 1) a written explanation of the conditions and objective criteria under which the 2.79% rate is applied, 2) a documented justification for why I was offered a different rate, 3) a revision of the advertisements to reflect the truth, and 4) the initiation of an administrative investigation into this practice.
