BYD Airbags Deployed And Electrical System Failed After Low-Speed Accident

On May 8, 2026, at approximately 1:00 a.m., I was driving my BYD UDMI vehicle in central Antalya when my front left wheel struck a curb.
After this impact, the side airbags on the left side of the vehicle deployed, and immediately afterward the entire electrical system of the vehicle completely shut down and the car became fully locked.
Because of this, I was unable to move the vehicle at all. I also could not open the trunk to place warning triangles or reflective emergency equipment on the road for safety purposes.
In addition, the SOS button installed in the vehicle — which I assumed was intended for emergency situations — became completely nonfunctional during this incident.
Even though we repeatedly called the roadside assistance line, which is advertised as operating 24/7, we were unable to reach anyone whatsoever. Eventually, we had to arrange and pay for a private tow truck ourselves in order to remove the vehicle from the scene.
For a vehicle that is marketed as highly advanced and safe, the fact that a relatively minor accident caused the entire electrical system to shut down, disabled the SOS system, and left roadside assistance unreachable caused me serious disappointment both in terms of safety and the reliability of the brand.
My expectation is that BYD should at minimum provide remote support capable of making the vehicle operational or manageable again and conduct a detailed technical investigation into this system failure.
I also request a clear and detailed explanation regarding why the vehicle’s emergency and electrical systems became completely unusable after this incident.
