Booking.com - Unfair Treatment on Tripadvisor
Laos Hotel Istanbul, which opened in 2021, collaborates with various booking platforms, but I recently encountered an unfamiliar one called Tripadvisor, which has an agreement with Booking.com. Upon inspection, Tripadvisor's reviews are overwhelmingly negative. It seems inclined to disparage establishments, doing everything possible to tarnish reputations. My suspicion is that this site aims to smear not just individual businesses but also Turkey as a whole. Among thousands of reviews, only the negative and demeaning ones are showcased, presenting a distorted image to the world. Booking.com staff explained that they couldn't intervene due to their agreement with Tripadvisor, attributing it to the system's limitations. However, we all know that systems are controlled by people, not the other way around. Despite my efforts, I couldn't communicate this to Booking.com or reach Tripadvisor. They didn't respond to my emails, and their overseas numbers were unreachable. I find it inappropriate and unjustifiable for Booking.com to collaborate with such a platform. According to Turkish regulations and our principles, this shouldn't be allowed. I'm not against reviews; you can't please everyone. But why only negative reviews? Why aren't all reviews published and considered? I'm filing this complaint seeking either the removal of negative reviews or the publication of all our customers' feedback. We're not against reviews; they help others discover us. However, Tripadvisor's bias towards negativity is concerning, and I suspect ulterior motives behind it. Ultimately, TripAdvisor doesn't recognize our perspective, which I see as a disservice to Turkey. My expectation is either the removal of negative reviews or the publication of all our reviews available on Booking.com.
