Booking.com Overcharged for Car Rental in Serbia

Hey there,
Approximately 3 months ago, we decided to rent a car and make a hotel reservation for our vacation in Serbia using Booking.com. When we got to Serbia, the car we had rented for €40 turned out to be a whopping €450. We were directed to Payless company, but they declined to take responsibility, leaving us to shoulder the cost. Although currency exchange rates may have played a role, we didn't experience any problems with the hotel. What is the plan for resolving this matter?
