Booking.com Missing Proper Invoices - Hotels Refuse Correction

I booked two hotel stays in Doha through Booking.com as business trips, clearly indicating during the reservation process that I was travelling for work and paying with a business card. For legal reasons and my company’s accounting and audits, I am required to receive a proper business invoice that shows my company name, VAT number and the correct card and payment details. From 5–16 November I stayed at W Hotel Doha via a Booking.com reservation. At check-out, the hotel issued an invoice showing Booking.com as the customer and their own credit card details instead of mine. When I asked them to correct this, they explained politely that the payment on their side was made by Booking.com, not by me directly, and therefore they could not change the invoice information. In other words, the hotel received the payment from Booking.com as an agency. I then contacted Booking.com several times and explained very clearly that the hotel was technically right: I paid Booking.com, and Booking.com paid the hotel, so the only party that can issue a correct business invoice to me is Booking.com. Despite this, Booking.com repeatedly told me that they do not issue invoices and that the hotel should provide it. After leaving W Hotel, I stayed at Marriott Marquis in Doha from 16–19 November, again booked and prepaid via Booking.com as a business trip. This time the property fully refused to give me a proper invoice for the same reason: they stated that I paid Booking.com, Booking.com paid them, invoice amounts can even differ, and therefore Booking.com must be the one to issue my invoice. Once more I contacted Booking.com, and once more I was told they do not send invoices and that the hotel should handle it. The hotel eventually sent an invoice, but again it does not show payment with my business card, only with Booking.com as the payer. As a result, for payments totalling more than $5,000, I still do not have valid business invoices I do not recommend Booking.com for business travellers under these conditions. My request from Booking.com is that they take responsibility as the party that collected the payment from me, issue or arrange proper business invoices for these stays that show the exact amounts paid with my business card and my company details including VAT number, and that they correct this process going forward so that business travellers can receive legally valid invoices directly and without such difficulties.
