Wise Account Blocked Over New Greek Type D Visa Requirement Despite Verification

I have been a Wise customer since 2018 and originally verified my account in Greece with my Greek Type C residence permit/visa. Wise accepted this document at that time without any problem and my account remained verified and in use for years. Now, in 2026, Wise has suddenly changed its identification requirements for me and is refusing to accept the same Type C residence permit it previously approved, and instead is demanding a Greek Type D visa. This new requirement is impossible and unacceptable for me, because I cannot obtain a Type D visa and this was never a condition when I became a Wise customer or during the previous years of using the service. In my view, Wise is trying to apply a new rule retroactively to an existing, long‑standing customer, and this is not fair. They benefited from my business for years while accepting my Type C residence permit, and now they are arbitrarily changing the rules and putting my funds and access at risk. Wise has informed me that I have a limited period to provide this Type D visa and, as a result of this demand, my account is now blocked. This situation has already caused me serious stress and practical financial difficulties, because I cannot freely use my Wise account as before. I consider this behaviour inconsistent and not in line with basic principles of fair and reliable treatment of existing customers. I have communicated with Wise support, sent them the requested photos and tried to clarify the situation, but their responses have not provided a realistic or lawful solution. They simply continue to insist on the new Type D visa instead of offering an alternative way to verify my identity that reflects the fact that my Type C residence visa was accepted back in 2018. I request that Wise stop applying this new visa requirement retroactively to me as an existing customer and that they continue to recognise and accept my Greek visa Type C , which they already used to verify my account in 2018. I expect Wise to immediately unblock my account and restore full access to my money without further arbitrary changes to ID requirements. I also expect Wise to take responsibility for the stress and any financial difficulties caused by this process and to ensure that similar retroactive changes are not imposed on me again in the future.
