Booking.com Cancelled My Hotel Last Minute—Left Stranded in Koh Phangan

I made a hotel reservation on Booking.com two months in advance for my trip to Koh Phangan, Thailand. Despite my careful planning, in 2023, my hotel was cancelled on the day of arrival without my consent, forcing me to spend the entire day searching for alternative accommodations.

Now in 2025, January 13, I am facing the same issue again. This time, the entire property I booked had shut down, yet it was still listed for reservations on Booking.com. Upon arriving, I found all nearby hotels fully booked due to the Full Moon Party season.

Despite my complaints, Booking.com offered only expensive alternative options far beyond the original price I paid. Even worse, after sending over 10 messages within 24 hours, I received no helpful response. With no other choice, I had to rent a local house for $250 per night just to avoid sleeping on the streets.

Booking.com has not refunded my payment or compensated for the inconvenience caused. Their lack of accountability ruined my vacation. I demand a full refund and a better resolution to prevent such issues in the future.

Hello Booking.com I wrote my complaint the other day. To briefly summarize the issue: The hotel we purchased 2 months ago was completely closed on the day we arrived. However, even though booking.com collected the money from me, the hotel had been closed for 5 months. It is still being sold knowingly. The authorities did not respond for 6 days. Later, they said they would refund the money we paid to the hotel. So now the issue is closed and over, is it? You made me experience this 2 years ago on the same island. That day was the busiest day on the island. And I had to stay outside that day because all the hotels on the island were full. We were forced to stay at a local family's house, paying more than enough. In an unsafe environment with my family. Booking didn't surprise me, they didn't even respond. Now they are asking for an invoice to compensate for the grievance they caused me. 1. Before you ask me this, you should have asked whether the hotel you sold was open or closed. 2. This is the second grievance you have caused. You did this rudeness on the same island exactly 3 years ago. Exactly 140 hours later, you sent me a message saying you would refund the hotel payment. I wish you could have compensated for the grievance you caused instead of asking for an invoice. (It's clear from here that you are a terrible company) 3. You ruined the vacation of people you responded to after 140 hours. I want to use harsher words. But I won't write them because they might be banned. Finally, instead of rudely asking me for an invoice, you will send me the fee I paid to the family. Everyone knows how crowded it gets on the night of the party on Koh Phangan island in Thailand. I have been buying hotels from you for years, I was someone in the top customer group. Will I ever buy a hotel from you again? Never. Booking.com is regret. They sell the product and don't stand behind it. Look at other companies, they even pay for my taxi due to the grievance they caused. These guys don't even respond. Don't buy, don't let others buy.
