Avis Charged Me €1,450 for Tire Damage and False Repairs After Podgorica Rental

I rented an SUV from Avis through Yolcu360 at Podgorica Airport in Montenegro for the period May 2–5, 2025. About an hour after pickup, upon arriving in central Kotor, the tire suddenly blew out. We immediately called the assistance numbers provided, but nobody responded or offered any help. Left stranded, we had no choice but to replace the tire ourselves using the spare.

At vehicle return, we explained what had happened. The Avis staff inspected the car, acknowledged the tire change, and only had us sign off on the tire issue. But to our shock, we were later charged €1,450.

They told us the tire fee would be charged temporarily and refunded after processing, but the invoice they sent also included unrelated charges for damage to the front bumper and right fender—which we absolutely did not cause. Now they’re refusing to issue any refund at all.

This is blatant overcharging and misrepresentation. Avis appears to be less about professional service and more about finding ways to exploit renters by charging them for false or exaggerated damage.

We want a full investigation and a refund of all unjustified charges, especially for the damages we didn’t cause. Just because it's difficult to seek legal action abroad doesn’t mean companies like Avis should be allowed to get away with this.

Avis, return our money and stop profiting off of honest customers.
