Amazon Changed the Price of a Hardcover Book After I Ordered
I’d like to share the issue I experienced today during a purchase on Amazon.com. I bought three different hardcover special edition books. One of them was listed at ₺135 for the hardcover edition. After completing my order, I received a payment update, which surprised me. When I checked, I saw that the product, which was originally listed as ₺135, had its price updated to over ₺1000 at the payment stage, and as a result, the order was canceled. When I contacted Amazon customer service, I was wrongly told, “You bought the paperback version.” But I know exactly what I purchased. The paperback version they mentioned is just a plain, illustration-free book. The one I bought was a hardcover special edition with a different cover photo. The hardcover version is currently ₺300. Despite my repeated explanations, they kept insisting I had purchased the paperback. When I pointed out that the paperback couldn’t possibly be ₺300, they responded, “The price must have recently changed.” How can the price jump from ₺135 to such a high amount in just a few hours? Why did this issue occur only with this book, while the prices of the other two remained the same? Even if it was a system error, customers should receive the product at the price displayed. You have no right to cause this kind of inconvenience. It’s also disappointing that a company once known for customer-centric service now seems entirely focused on sales. After this experience, I no longer plan to shop with Amazon.
