On May 20, 2024, I received a call from an 850 number. The caller knew I had previously closed my Akbank credit card due to annual fees. They offered me a ₺50,000 interest-free loan, claiming Akbank didn't want to lose me as a customer. Because they knew about my closed card and why I closed it, I assumed it was a legitimate call from Akbank's customer service.
After accepting the loan, I realized it was a scam when they tried to get me to transfer the money to them. I immediately called Akbank's real customer service, explained the situation, and asked to cancel the loan. They assured me it would be cancelled without issue.
However, when I checked later, the loan hadn't been cancelled. I called again and was given the same assurance. They then froze my mobile and online banking access. I couldn't check my account until I received a message from the bank stating the loan had been withdrawn from my account, not cancelled.
I filed a complaint, but the bank claims they found no issues in their call recordings. Now they're saying I need to pay ₺7,000 in interest to close the loan. I'm being victimized while scammers have access to all my bank information.
This issue seems specific to Akbank accounts. Somehow, these scammers always have detailed information about my Akbank accounts, including when and why I closed my credit card. I'm filing a complaint against Akbank and demand this issue be resolved. If not, I'll pursue legal action to protect my rights.
