Airbnb Host Refused to Help After We Found the Apartment Unsanitary

Through Airbnb, we booked a stay at Külah Apartment located in Famagusta, Northern Cyprus, from a host named Ş***** and paid approximately $458 for the reservation. When we arrived at the apartment around 12:40 AM on the night of May 18–19, we immediately noticed that the property was extremely dirty, had clearly not been cleaned properly, and was completely unsuitable in terms of hygiene.
After seeing that many areas of the apartment — including the bedsheets — were dirty, we asked the host for clean sheets, but our request was ignored. We were three young women staying together, and despite arriving late at night and facing such conditions, the host behaved in a very careless and rude manner. We were told, “This is the apartment, if you don’t want to stay, then don’t stay,” and our concerns were completely dismissed. We also have photographs documenting the poor and unhygienic condition of the apartment. Because of these conditions, we did not stay at the property at all, including that same night covered by the reservation.
We made the payment through Airbnb, but the host additionally requested payment via IBAN transfer, which we believe violates Airbnb platform rules. At this moment, despite waiting for over an hour trying to find a solution, we still cannot reach a responsible Airbnb representative to properly handle our issue. Due to the severe hygiene problems, the disrespectful attitude of the host, the inability to reach meaningful support on the platform, and the fact that we never stayed in the apartment despite paying for it, we have been seriously inconvenienced and financially harmed.
For all of these reasons, we request a full refund of the approximately $458 accommodation payment and ask Airbnb to conduct a detailed investigation into both this listing and the host involved.
