On June 12, 2025, at exactly 2:40 PM, I received an unsolicited WhatsApp call from a number beginning with +91 93581 ****. After looking it up online, I learned the +91 country code belongs to India—a country with which I have absolutely no personal or business connection.
This call made me extremely uncomfortable. I immediately blocked the number, but that doesn’t resolve the deeper concern: how did someone with no link to me get my number in the first place?
I want to make it crystal clear that I do not authorize the use of my phone number, WhatsApp account, or personal data for any reason. If any of my private information—messages, photos, or account details—is accessed, or if someone uses my identity to open a company, shop online, or take out loans in my name, I will not accept any legal or financial responsibility.
I hold WhatsApp fully accountable for any misuse of my information stemming from this incident. This needs to be taken seriously, and I request WhatsApp to strengthen its user protection systems, investigate this call, and ensure this kind of breach doesn’t happen again.
