Vio.com Refused to Refund an Extra Hotel Night
Around 3:30 PM on September 18, I made a $470 reservation through Vio.com for a stay at the Novotel hotel in Istanbul from September 23 to September 27. My intention was to book a stay with check-in on September 23 and check-out on September 27, but somehow the system created the reservation for September 22–27, and I did not notice the error at the time of payment.
Immediately after making the payment, within minutes, I contacted Vio.com by email, reported the incorrect dates, and asked them to cancel or correct the extra first night that had been added to the reservation. Although customer service acknowledged that I had reported the issue immediately after payment and within minutes, they told me that they could not help me in any way and could not cancel the extra night.
As soon as I noticed the error, while the reservation was still very recent, I contacted them and requested only that the unused first night be canceled and that the approximately $100 charge for that one night be refunded. Despite this, I encountered an approach that unnecessarily complicated the process and refused to provide a solution.
If customer satisfaction had been prioritized, I believe a date error reported within such a short time could at least have been resolved by canceling the extra first night. Because of this negative experience, I do not plan to make another reservation through Vio.com, and I would recommend booking directly with hotels to avoid similar problems. I expect Vio.com to assist me with obtaining a refund for the extra one-night charge.
