I Was Banned From Umingle Even Though I Am an Adult
I am writing regarding an unfair ban I received today on the Umingle website while using it from Friday Harbor, USA. I was using the site without an account and introduced myself in chat by saying, “Hi, my name is Ashley.” When one male user asked my age, I deliberately replied “14” because I was trying to see whether he would continue talking to me inappropriately and to check if he might be a predator. I am actually 18 years old. Shortly after this, I was banned from the website on the grounds that I was under 18. I understand the importance of age restrictions and safety rules on such platforms, and I support protecting minors. However, in this case, I am an adult, and I was trying to test whether the person I was talking to might be engaging in predatory behavior, not to break the rules of the platform. There was no email or clear channel provided for me to appeal this ban, so I am unable to submit proof of my age or explain the situation directly to your team. I request that my ban from the Umingle website be reviewed, that I be given a way to verify that I am 18, and that my access be restored if possible. I would also appreciate being informed about any proper method or contact address where such issues and safety concerns about suspicious users can be reported in the future.
