Unauthorized Deduction of Miles from My Turkish Airlines Account
My personal data has been processed unlawfully under the scope of KVKK, and 40,000 miles were deducted from my account without my consent or knowledge! On 09.08.2023, my spouse and I requested to use my spouse's annual 2 Elite Plus business upgrade rights at the Istanbul Airport Elite/Elite Plus counter for our Istanbul Airport-Kenya Nairobi flight. The counter staff mentioned that they needed approval and contacted their supervisor, who approved the upgrade. On August 19, when I logged into the app to check-in for my return flight, I noticed that my miles had decreased. Upon checking my mile transactions, I saw that 40,000 miles were used for the transaction on August 9. This is unacceptable! Considering that our credit card information is also stored in the THY system, I fear this could lead to arbitrary withdrawals of money. The deduction of my miles without any system approval or notification creates significant security vulnerabilities. Since August, I have provided numerous feedbacks on this issue, but I have received many meaningless responses without anyone reading my complaint. I want to make it clear that I will not let this issue go. I have requested action under KVKK and will file a complaint with the Board with my lawyer. I have also requested a complaint record to be created against the staff who performed this transaction and the supervisor who approved it, and for all voice recordings at the counter to be reviewed, but I have not received any results. I demand the immediate return of my miles and resolution of this grievance. Otherwise, I will use all my rights to file a complaint with the Board and relevant authorities through my lawyer.
