Turkish Airlines Delayed My Baggage Compensation

On February 9, 2024, I landed at Istanbul Airport from Dar-es-Salaam on Turkish Airlines flight TK526, but my baggage was missing. Inside my baggage was a night guard that I need to use every night for health reasons. I reported the issue to the airline and stressed the urgency of the situation. When I contacted customer service to inquire about my baggage and mentioned that I would need to remake the night guard, they confirmed the urgency of the night guard. Since I received no information about the status of my baggage, on the morning of February 13, I had a new night guard made and sent the invoice for ₺3500 to Turkish Airlines, requesting compensation. I received my baggage around 4 PM on February 13, but by then, I had already had the night guard made and paid for it. When I requested compensation for my loss, Turkish Airlines denied my claim, stating that the night guard was not an urgent need, contrary to what their own customer service representatives had said. Despite the fact that they did not inform me that my baggage was found, causing me financial loss, they refused to compensate me. Although ₺3500 is not a large amount, as a lawyer, I do not accept being treated this way. I want them to know that I will pursue my legal rights to the fullest extent.
