Turkish Airlines 9-Hour Flight Delay Experience
I purchased a connecting flight from Turkish Airlines for my Antalya-Bangkok trip. My flight from Antalya to Istanbul was delayed by 1.30 hours. When I requested my flight tickets in Antalya, they did not provide my Istanbul-Bangkok ticket, stating it was a standby flight. They told me my seat would be confirmed at the gate. Due to the delay of my Antalya flight, the gates were closed when I arrived in Istanbul, and I was not allowed on the plane because my ticket had already been sold to someone else. They blamed the delay for this issue. When I went to the Turkish Airlines office, they offered me a meal from Burger King and said they would send me on a flight with a 9-hour delay. Despite contacting the necessary departments, I received no response. Even though I informed the flight attendants and Turkish Airlines offices at the airport while I was still on the connecting flight and after landing, asking them to contact the Bangkok flight cabin crew, no one took action. I couldn't even pass passport control with the ticket they provided in Antalya. They told me the ticket was invalid and that I needed to get it stamped at the Turkish Airlines office. It took me 15 minutes just to go back through passport control and reach the Turkish Airlines office. I have been waiting at Istanbul Airport for 9 hours. In compensation for this inconvenience, they only gave me one meal and sent me away from the office. I reported my complaint to the necessary departments. When I called customer service, I requested to spend my 9-hour delayed flight wait in the lounge area, explaining that my father had knee surgery and that we needed to be accommodated in the lounge area, but they did not assist us in any way. As someone who has been flying internationally with Turkish Airlines for years, I will now file complaints with all relevant authorities in response to this treatment.
