Toyota Refuses Engine Warranty on 2019 Corolla Hybrid
On February 4, 2026, I brought my 2019 Toyota Corolla 1.8 Hybrid Flame X-Pack to Toyota Boranlar Mersin authorized service for its 90,000 km maintenance. During the inspection, a noise coming from the engine was noticed, but the exact cause of the problem could not be identified. Despite this, I was told that any potential engine-related expenses would be my responsibility and that because I exceeded the service interval by 500 km while driving from İzmir to Mersin, I would no longer be eligible for any warranty support.
At no point during this process was I verbally informed about a strict “1 year or 15,000 km” warranty condition. Toyota Boranlar Mersin and Toyota Turkey both stated that even exceeding the limit by 1 km voids the warranty and that they would not provide any support under any circumstances.
I was informed that the engine would need to be disassembled in order to diagnose the issue, but that there is no clarity on what the problem is or how much the total cost would be. My vehicle has only 90,000 km, and I believe that this type of engine issue is more likely due to a manufacturing defect rather than user error. I absolutely do not accept that the entire financial burden should be placed on me.
I chose this vehicle because Toyota is known for producing reliable, trouble-free engines. Experiencing an engine malfunction at just 90,000 km—and then being denied any warranty or goodwill support while being expected to cover all costs—has significantly increased my frustration and financial hardship.
I am requesting that the diagnostic process, engine disassembly and reassembly procedures, and all resulting repair costs be evaluated and covered under Toyota’s warranty. I also demand that my grievance be addressed and resolved urgently.
