Airbnb Fails to Release $1,456 Pending Authorization on Canceled Booking HMYSK53H8A
On August 26, 2026, I made reservation number HMYSK53H8A via Airbnb. Because it was an erroneous booking, I canceled the transaction within minutes. Despite this, a authorization hold of $1,456.83 USD was placed on my credit card and remains locked.
Airbnb stated that the refund would take place by August 31; however, as of today, the amount of $1,456.83 USD is still pending on my bank statement under authorized/pending transactions. I am almost completely unable to use my ING Bank Pegasus Bol Bol credit card due to this locked amount, causing me long-standing hardship.
I have contacted both ING Bank and Airbnb multiple times regarding this matter. The bank claims there is nothing they can do on their end and that Airbnb must finalize the transaction. Airbnb claims they have sent the necessary notification to the bank, deflecting responsibility back to the bank. While both parties point fingers at each other, a high-value authorization hold has been unnecessarily restricting my card limit since August 26.
I do not accept that a single-payment transaction that was canceled within minutes remains held for such an extended period. I demand that the release of the $1,456.83 USD pending authorization be finalized urgently, that my credit card limit be restored immediately, and that my grievance be resolved.
