Partial Refund Complaint: Airbnb Refuses Waiver After Guest Attempts Rebooking
I made a reservation via Airbnb for an apartment named "Kotor Bay view Penthouse" in Kotor, Montenegro, for 3 adults between September 26–30, 2026, totaling 22,887.07 TL. Due to health issues experienced by a friend who was planning to travel with us, I was forced to cancel this booking on September 9, which had originally been made on September 7.
Following the cancellation, Airbnb refunded us only approximately 11,443.53 TL, retaining nearly half of the payment. My friend subsequently completed their medical treatment, and we wished to re-book the exact same apartment under the same conditions. In other words, we did not abandon our travel plans entirely; we were merely forced to delay due to medical reasons.
Despite this, Airbnb refunded only half of the amount paid and effectively withheld the remainder. I have attached screenshots showing the booking confirmation, the post-cancellation refund amount, and the bank statement indicating the refund transaction. I do not consider it fair that half the fee was deducted for a cancellation caused by mandatory health reasons—especially given that we intend to re-rent the exact same property.
My reservation code is HMTNC4B4P9. I demand that the withheld portion be refunded to me due to this health-related cancellation and that my hardship be resolved.
