I bought the Skechers 51591 NVOR model from the StarCity Skechers store just 111 days ago. Alongside it, I also purchased a leather pair—which, by the way, does not have this issue. I’ve owned many shoes before, including from Asics, and never encountered a smell like this.
This pair started producing a horrible odor despite being worn just once a week. I rotate between 6 different pairs of shoes, so I’m careful not to wear the same ones back-to-back. I take good care of my footwear, and none of my other shoes smell like this—not even the ones I wear more frequently. There's no water damage, no excessive sweating, and the shoe is supposed to be breathable.
The stench got so unbearable that I couldn’t even get through a full morning at work. I had to run out, buy socks and another pair of shoes, and returned these immediately. Yet, Skechers had the audacity to say this was "user error." That’s just insulting.
What am I supposed to have done in 4 months to make a shoe smell like this with once-a-week wear? The company won’t take responsibility and keeps saying there’s no manufacturing defect. But this isn’t a stitching issue—it’s about material quality or a production flaw. Shouldn’t you be required to investigate the actual cause before blaming the customer?
