Misleading Charges (subscription) For Using PDFe.com
I am writing to complain about an unauthorized subscription charge made by PDFe.com in connection with the PDFe PDF Editor. I purchased what was clearly presented to me as a single copy for $1, used it only once, and at no point did I knowingly agree to any recurring subscription or $80 monthly plan. Despite this, my card was first charged small fees three times on February 6, and then I was charged $80 on February 13, for a total of $83. The way this was presented on the site was, in my view, incredibly misleading and predatory. I believed I was making a one-time purchase for $1 only. I did not intend to start a subscription, nor did I authorize an $80 monthly plan. I contacted PDFe.com support by e‑mail and requested a refund, explaining that I had only wanted a single copy and was not aware of any automatic renewal. They answered that these charges correspond to a subscription automatically activated after a 7‑day trial, and they refused to refund me, simply stating that the subscription terms were “clearly indicated” and that my account is now canceled. I strongly disagree with this approach and feel that I have been misled. I only used the service once and did not knowingly accept such expensive recurring payments. I request an immediate refund of the $80 subscription fee and written confirmation that my account remains fully canceled and that no further charges will be made to my card under any circumstances. I believe companies that operate this way should be held accountable for misleading practices, and I expect PDFe.com to resolve this issue promptly by returning the $80 and ensuring there are no future charges.
