Oleg Cassini Dress Fell Apart After One Wear, Denied Refund Despite Defect

On August 29, I purchased an evening dress from Oleg Cassini. I wore the dress to an event on August 30, but by the end of the night, the lining (interfacing) inside the dress had come undone. I immediately took the dress to their Cevahir store the next day. After inspecting it, the staff admitted that they had never seen this issue before and that it wasn’t caused by me. However, they said they could only repair the dress by ironing the interfacing back into place.

I had purchased the dress brand new, and for it to fall apart after one night shows the poor quality of materials used. I don’t trust that this "repair" will hold, and no one can guarantee that the dress won’t fail again at another event. Despite my request for a refund, they refused, claiming it was beyond their authority. I was given customer service’s number, and after speaking with them, I was told the dress was made by Alfabeta and they had to contact that company. After sending them a video as requested, they later informed me that Alfabeta had never received such a complaint before and therefore wouldn’t accept the return.

Even if the dress was made by Alfabeta, Oleg Cassini is responsible as the seller. I’ve seen other complaints with similar responses, so I want to remind Oleg Cassini of their obligations. I have already filed a complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Committee and will pursue this matter in court if necessary.
