Nike Ignored Consumer Arbitration Decision and Delayed My Refund
The sole of the shoes I purchased from the Nike Akbatı store came apart within three weeks, so I applied to the Consumer Arbitration Committee. Even though the Committee’s official decision clearly stated “refund of the purchase price,” when I went to the store today after the decision was issued, they refused to process my refund. The store manager did not want to carry out the transaction despite the legally binding decision and claimed that their accounting department was closed because it was the weekend. When I started recording a video without showing anyone’s face to document the situation, I was threatened with being removed from the store by security guards, right in front of my 9-year-old daughter. This behavior was extremely hurtful and unacceptable, as it both openly ignored a legal ruling and showed a serious lack of respect toward a customer.
About one hour later, after they realized that I had contacted my lawyer, they suddenly carried out the refund they had initially refused. In other words, the refund was processed only because I knew my legal rights and involved my lawyer, almost as if it were a favor rather than a legal obligation. I demand that Consumer Arbitration Committee decisions be implemented immediately without delay, that the store staff and manager be investigated to prevent similar situations from happening to other customers, and that threatening and disrespectful behavior toward customers come to an end. I will also file a new legal case using the video evidence and take all necessary legal action.
