MAC offers several digital tools and shade guides to help you pick a shade that’s more likely to look the same in-store as online.
Their Foundation Shade Finder lets you sort by depth (how light or dark your skin is) and undertone (warm, cool, neutral), then suggests shades across formulas so you can compare.
They also have a Virtual Try-On lamp and in some regions you can book an in-store colour consult with a MAC Artist who will test shades on your jaw in natural light (because store lighting often skews colour).
A helpful trick is to swatch shades along your jawline (not your wrist) and wait several minutes—oxidation or formula finish may warm or darken the colour after it settles.
Using free return policies (where available) or getting samples lets you test under your home or outdoor lighting before committing fully.
