Lichess Players Exploit Game Time and Disconnect Rules to Gain Unfair Wins
I have been playing on Lichess for a long time, and I would like to report an ongoing issue that has become increasingly frustrating over the years. Some opponents intentionally stop making moves and appear to deliberately let the clock run down. However, if I briefly leave the game screen, even for a very short period, the system may declare that “the opponent left the game” and award them a win. Even when I return to the game within seconds, I can still end up unfairly losing the game.
This behavior has effectively become a form of abuse that punishes players who are genuinely trying to play fairly and seriously. It significantly reduces the enjoyment of the game. On a platform built around fair play, it is extremely disappointing that such system weaknesses can apparently be exploited so easily.
I expect Lichess to take clear and effective measures against players who deliberately stop playing or exploit the system by manipulating when they leave and return to the game. I request that Lichess review the system responsible for awarding an early win when a player is considered to have “left the game” and develop a solution that prevents this type of abuse as much as possible.
I hope Lichess will investigate this issue and take appropriate action to ensure that players who follow the rules are not unfairly punished by such behavior.
