KLM Personnel Mocked My Foreign Spouse and Denied Boarding
On October 10, 2025, I experienced an extremely upsetting situation at the KLM economy check-in and baggage counter at Istanbul Airport. Because my spouse is a foreign national, the staff spoke to us in a degrading and humiliating manner. They made discriminatory remarks such as “You can’t leave from here, go through Algeria, go through Asia” in a mocking tone and refused to complete our check-in. As a result, we were unable to travel and were publicly embarrassed in front of everyone.
We suffered serious distress due to these discriminatory and disrespectful actions. No one—especially airline staff—has the right to treat passengers this way. I request that appropriate action be taken against the responsible personnel.
