iStockphoto Charged Me for Free Trial, Canceled My Account Without Refund

October 12, 2023 10:20 AM11

I signed up for iStockphoto’s "first month free" trial, providing my credit card details as required. However, without downloading a single image, they forced me into an annual subscription and charged me $14.90 (₺434.93) for the first month. When I disputed the charge, they hid behind their terms and conditions, claiming I should have canceled within the trial period.

Accepting my mistake, I decided to continue the subscription and requested access to my account, but instead of reactivating it, they ignored my messages and left my account locked. How does disputing a charge give iStockphoto the right to unilaterally terminate my account without refunding my money?
