IKEA Tabletop Pierced During Assembly - Screw Hole Defect Claimed User Fault

I purchased an Ikea HAGERNÄS kitchen table from the Ikea Bayrampaşa store in Istanbul and assembled it myself on December 28, 2025. During the assembly, one of the screws went through the screw hole and pierced the tabletop. There are 12 screws in total, and while 11 of them were secured properly without any problem, only one screw exceeded the screw hole and damaged the tabletop by piercing it. After the incident, I immediately contacted Ikea Customer Service in writing and explained the situation in detail. Upon my request, an inspector was assigned and came to examine the product. The inspector first assumed that an incorrect screw might have been used and checked all the screws one by one, then stated that there was no issue with the screws. Afterwards, he claimed that the screw hole had compressed due to excessive force during assembly and that the fault was mine. I clearly expressed that I had applied the same procedure and tightening force to the other 11 screws without any issue, and that only this one screw had passed through the screw hole and pierced the tabletop. When I asked how I could have foreseen or prevented this situation during normal assembly, I did not receive a clear and satisfactory answer. I believe that this damage arose from a design or production-related sensitivity in the screw hole of that specific point, rather than from user error, especially considering that the other 11 screws were assembled without any problem under the same conditions. For this reason, I formally request that the damaged tabletop of my HAGERNÄS kitchen table be replaced with a new one and that this issue be handled as a product-related problem rather than user fault.
