I own a Hyundai Ioniq 6, which I purchased brand new from the dealership 17 months ago. From the very beginning, the passenger seat had a visible factory defect, and now the leather upholstery across the seats has started to deform significantly. When I brought the issue to the attention of the authorized service center, they claimed this condition is “normal.”

Let me be clear—this car was purchased brand new, and visible wear on factory leather in less than two years is absolutely not normal. Despite being under warranty, they informed me that the issue wouldn’t be covered. After a 4-day inspection, they said any replacement or repair would be my responsibility, including all costs.

Hyundai, I expect better quality and service for a premium vehicle like the Ioniq 6. You cannot dismiss clear manufacturing defects and pass the cost onto your customers. I’m requesting a full investigation and warranty-covered repair or seat replacement without delay. This experience has been frustrating and unfair—take accountability and resolve this promptly.

Unfortunately, they responded with a very poor explanation and said that the deformed parts were due to user error. Even though we have to accept this, I was a bit surprised that they called the factory defect related to the side seat a user error as well. There was no explanation about this at all. There needs to be a solution for this.
