GYM Factory Refused a Full Refund After My Membership Cancellation
On August 1, 2026, I signed up for a three-month membership package at GYM Factory in Konyaaltı and paid 3,299 TL for the first month, approximately $68. After starting my membership, I only used the gym twice, for a total of approximately two hours. On August 8, 2026, I informed them that I wanted to exercise my legal right of withdrawal and requested that my membership be canceled and my payment refunded.
Although my cancellation request was accepted, they told me that they would deduct 1,700 TL as if I had used the gym for an entire month, even though I had only visited the gym twice and used it for approximately two hours in total. They also said that they would not refund the remaining amount. However, I had only paid 3,299 TL for the first month, and I submitted my withdrawal request very shortly after signing up, when I had barely used the service at all.
Even though I exercised my right of withdrawal within the applicable period, I do not consider such a large deduction or a charge disproportionate to my actual usage to be fair. I request that my membership be canceled and that the remaining amount of the 3,299 TL I paid be refunded to me in full, apart from only a reasonable amount corresponding to the time I actually used the facility.
