Green Motion Denied My Rental After Confirming My Documents

June 28 9:28 PM

On June 10, I reserved two commercial vehicles through Obilet from the Green Motion location at Istanbul Airport AVM together with my friend, T** K******. The reservation was made under my name, Yunus D*****,** for pickup at 10:30 a.m. on June 28, 2028. We booked the vehicles during a promotional campaign at a discounted rate of approximately $170, and my Obilet reservation number is 17B3CDE687CB.

When we arrived at the Green Motion office at the scheduled time, we provided everything that was requested, including our credit cards, Turkish ID cards, and driver's licenses. After checking their system, the staff informed us that both my rental request and my friend's had been rejected. When I asked why, they said they could not see the reason and told me to contact Obilet. When I called Obilet customer service, they told me the exact opposite—that only Green Motion could see the reason for the rejection. Since neither company could provide a clear explanation, we had no choice but to cancel the reservation.

We had booked these vehicles through an Obilet promotion at a very competitive price. We then visited another rental company at the same location, Garenta, where my rental eligibility and Findeks score were checked. I was told that my score was excellent and that I had no issue renting a vehicle. This indicates that the rejection was not caused by my credit profile or rental history. Based on these circumstances, I believe Green Motion arbitrarily rejected our reservations instead of honoring the promotional rate so the vehicles could be rented to someone else at a higher price.

As a result, instead of paying approximately $170 for the original rental, I was forced to rent a vehicle from another company for approximately $362, and with insurance, my total cost increased to approximately $469. This caused me an additional financial loss of approximately $213. I have already submitted a refund request through Obilet and am still waiting for the refund to be processed. I also returned to the Green Motion office, informed them that my rental eligibility was not the issue, and advised them that I intended to file a formal complaint regarding their conduct.

I request that Green Motion and the parties involved investigate this incident, provide me with a written explanation for why both my reservation and my friend's reservation were rejected without a valid reason, and fully compensate me for the approximately $213 in financial losses I incurred. I also ask that appropriate measures be taken to ensure that other customers are not subjected to similar unexplained reservation denials in the future.
