GetYourGuide Oversold Lake Bled Tour and Excluded Us Without Explanation

I purchased a full-day Slovenia Lake Bled tour through Get Your Guide under reservation number GYG997VXN6MA for April 7, 2025. I made this purchase on March 13, 2025, and paid for it in full. Just a few hours before the tour, they sent me an email saying that my reservation had been canceled due to “scheduled maintenance for that day.” I did not see this email, so my spouse and I went to the meeting point on the morning of April 7 at 8:00 a.m. as instructed.

Everyone else was there, and shortly after, a representative from Encos Agency d.o.o. arrived and began calling out the names of the participants. When he reached us, he told us that our tour had been canceled and that I should have received an email. At that moment, we realized that—not as stated in the email—the entire tour was not canceled. Only we had been removed from the tour. Clearly, they did not expect that we might show up at the meeting point despite the cancellation email.

With no explanation about the real reason for the cancellation, the tour representative abruptly left after saying he would call me. This entire situation raises a serious concern: Was this “participant elimination” done because we were Turkish? Did Get Your Guide oversell the tour and then decide, “Let’s remove the Turkish customers” to solve the problem?

As a result, we had to rent a car for the day using the refund money we expect to receive, and ironically, we were able to visit more places than the original tour for almost the same price. However, as of today, I declare that I will no longer purchase any product or service from Get Your Guide.
