My Checked Bags Were Damaged During Etihad Airways Flight, No Resolution Provided
On September 19, 2024, I flew from Johannesburg to Turkey via Abu Dhabi with Etihad Airways. Upon arrival in Istanbul, I discovered significant damage to my two checked bags—a large suitcase and a medium one. The large suitcase had a broken wheel, a hole in its surface, and a damaged handle, rendering it unusable. The medium suitcase also had a visible crack on its surface.
I immediately reported the issue to the airport’s authorized desk. However, I was told they could neither replace my luggage nor confirm if I would be compensated. They provided a feedback link for follow-up, but the system has not allowed me to access it due to technical issues. It has been weeks, and no one has contacted me about the matter.
I am left with a broken large suitcase that I cannot use. I expect Etihad Airways to promptly resolve this issue by compensating me for the damage or providing replacements for my luggage.
