I purchased an Electrolux washing machine that is still under warranty, yet I was informed that the blackening of the door's rubber seal (despite leaving the door open and regularly drying it) is not covered under warranty. When I contacted Electrolux service, they stated the seal replacement would be chargeable.
If a product is designed to endure constant exposure to water, detergent, and fabric softener, the materials used—especially the rubber seal—should be resistant to these conditions. I’m baffled by what additional care the manufacturer expects beyond regularly drying and leaving the door open after every use.
For comparison, the Electrolux washing machine I purchased 13 years ago has been in use at my summer home and has never experienced this issue. Meanwhile, this newer model’s seal has blackened within just two years, even with proper maintenance. Instead of blaming customers with "user error" claims, the quality of the seal material should be examined and replaced under warranty.
Adding to the frustration, I initially opened a service request on December 9, but only received a response on December 24 with a rejection. I’ve been unable to use my washing machine for over a month, and the lack of urgency and care from Electrolux’s customer service has made this experience even more upsetting. I expect Electrolux to address this matter promptly by replacing the faulty seal at no cost.
