Decathlon Refused My Bicycle Return After Faulty Steering
On 25/06/2025, I purchased a bicycle from a Decathlon store. During my second use, I noticed that the steering hub had come loose, so I returned the bike to the Optimum store. After waiting for about an hour for the workshop technician, who never showed up, I handed the bike over to the store manager, Mr. O***, in exchange for a form he prepared. Later that day, around 4 PM, I called the store to inquire about the inspection, and Mr. O*** informed me that the technician hadn’t examined the product and that he had personally tightened a part he referred to as the "butterfly" to fix the issue. When I requested an official inspection by a certified technician and asked for the return process to be initiated, they claimed that the bike had scratches on it and therefore would not be eligible for return. They also clearly stated that I was free to file a complaint wherever I wished. Had I known that such a large retailer would act no differently than a corner shop, I wouldn't have even set foot in the store, let alone made a purchase.
