Recently, I had a single WhatsApp voice call with a Chit Chat English Course representative, and I later discovered that my voice had been recorded without my consent or any prior notice. What makes this situation worse is that the representative openly admitted to it in both a written message and a voice note, saying, “we have your voice recording.” When I confronted him about the illegality of this action, he first replied “sorry, I forgot to ask” and then dismissed my complaint with an arrogant “report it if you want” attitude.
This is a clear violation of Turkish law, specifically:
KVKK Articles 5 and 10 regarding explicit consent and information disclosure,
Turkish Penal Code Articles 133 and 134 covering confidentiality of communication and privacy.
🔴 I was never asked for consent, nor informed about any recording.
🔴 All written messages and voice notes proving this incident are in my possession.
I demand from Chit Chat English:
A formal explanation of whether disciplinary action was taken against this individual,
Written assurance that my unauthorized voice recording has been permanently deleted,
A public disclosure of Chit Chat English’s data protection and KVKK compliance policy.
This situation has caused me great discomfort and raises serious concerns about how the company handles customer privacy. I expect urgent action, accountability, and transparency from Chit Chat English.
