Carrefour Denied An Obvious Return Request Claiming Proof of Purchase

On Sunday, August 20, 2023, around noon, I made a purchase of 345 TL at Heybeliada Carrefour market. As I was heading to a beach that didn't allow outside food and beverages, I informed the market that I intended to return the products within half an hour. However, I explained that I had already discarded the receipt, and thus, didn't possess one. Despite my explanation, the market employee declined to accept the products, insisting that a receipt was necessary for returns. The Ministry of Finance has clearly stipulated a law that mandates sellers to accept returns without demanding a receipt. We engaged with 4 representatives at the call center regarding this issue and even had a representative communicate with the store staff. Though the representative confirmed that products could be returned without a receipt, the store clerk adamantly insisted on having a receipt. Surprisingly, despite making the purchase with my Carrefour card, this unfortunate incident transpired. The details of our purchased products and the time of purchase are evident. As a proposed solution, we were advised to wait 48 hours for the products to be invoiced before proceeding with the return. This situation raises questions—am I expected to travel from Pendik to Heybeliada, a location I visit daily, just to return products for someone's satisfaction? The lack of dialogue and inflexibility on your part has become quite evident. We simply anticipate you to fulfill your responsibilities as expected. Never before have I encountered such absurdity, not in A101 nor in BIM. When I conveyed my sentiments to the store staff, their response was disappointingly nonchalant, stating, "that's just how it is with us." It's truly disheartening to experience such disregard for customer service and reasonable resolutions in a market.
