Calzedonia In-Store Policy Allowed Swimsuit Exchange but Denied Full Refund
On July 20, 2026, I purchased a men's swimsuit for my husband from the Calzedonia store in Izmir Forum Bornova. My husband tried the product on strictly at home over his own underwear. Because the swimsuit was too small, it was never used, the tags were not removed, and no condition was created that would prevent it from being resold.
For this reason, I applied to the same store today to return the item. The store associate rejected my return request, stating that returns are strictly not allowed on men's swimsuits and pointing out that this rule is printed in red on the back of the receipt. I was told that instead of a return, I could only exchange it for a swimsuit one size larger or purchase another product. I consider accepting an item for exchange while refusing it for a return—even though it has never been used—to be an inconsistent policy that operates against consumer interests.
The person who would wear the product was not at the store during the purchase, making an error in size selection highly expected. While the item remains unused and poses no issues regarding hygiene, having my request categorically rejected without any flexibility or evaluation caused me deep disappointment.
Furthermore, no verbal disclosure was made to me during purchase regarding the non-refundable status of men's swimsuits. I believe that writing such an important condition solely on the back of a receipt handed out after the transaction does not constitute sufficient consumer notification. During my brief (5 to 10 minutes) in-store conversation, I did not find the staff's approach to be solution-oriented either.
From a global brand like Calzedonia, which I presumed prioritized customer satisfaction, I expected a far more flexible and customer-focused approach. Unfortunately, the attitude encountered in-store fell far short of this expectation.
I demand that this grievance be re-evaluated under customer satisfaction policies, that the return of the unused men's swimsuit (which remains suitable for resale) be accepted, and that a written explanation detailing the company policy and any applicable legal grounds used as the basis for rejecting my return request be communicated to me.
